Event looks at the challenges of funding innovation in the North

The Northern Powerhouse is a historic hotbed of innovation. Now the towns and cities that once transformed the world in the first industrial revolution are doing so once again as they seek to support the UK and the world’s recovery from Covid-19.

In the latest webinar by TheBusinessDesk.com in partnership with the Northern Powerhouses Investment Fund (NPIF) an expert panel will discuss not only the challenges to funding innovation in the North but the solutions they’ve found.

Attendees will hear from two business leaders, Dr Natalie Kenny of BioGrad Diagnostics and Chris Yates the CEO of Abingdon Health, two companies that have through the challenging times of 2020 invested in innovation ensuring they not just survive but thrive.

Other speakers include: Roger Marsh OBE DL, chair of Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership and the NP11, Joanne Whitfield, fund director, NPIF – FW Capital Debt Finance, and Grant Peggle, director at British Business Bank.

The event will take place via zoom at 10am on 28 January and is free to attend simply register now.

The £400m Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund was established in 2017 with the ambition to transform the funding landscape across the North of England and help to create economic prosperity on par with London and the South East.

To date, NPIF has directly invested more than £221m, in deals that have attracted an additional £242m of investment from the private sector.

This is helping business owners that had previously been under-served by traditional lenders to expand, enter new markets and create thousands of new jobs.
