Online homeware brand on track for £5m turnover

An online luxury furniture boutique based in West Yorkshire is celebrating soaring sales and a planned move to bigger premises to accommodate its success.

Molly Robson, 25, is co-owner of homeware brand ShabbyStore, customers of which include influencers and celebrities such as Mrs Hinch and Billie Faiers.

After leaving school, Robson established her first business in the fitness sector, built through social media.

Having always had a passion for home interiors and design, she and her business partners then acquired the 10-year old ShabbyStore and have since grown the business significantly.

Robson has taken sales from just £300,000 in 2018 to forecasted sales in 2021 of £3m and on track to hit £5m in 2022.

A couple of years ago, she was packaging the company’s products herself over the Black Friday and Christmas period.

But over the latest festive season, the firm’s goods were packed by a 10 plus strong warehouse team, operating out of an 8,000 sq ft warehouse.

This year will see ShabbyStore move into a much larger 12,000 sq ft warehouse which is currently being re-modelled to be its new HQ. The premises in Idle will also include a showroom.

Robson said: “I have always loved interior design and had previously spent a lot of time in other people’s homes whilst working as an estate agent.

“I had the edge of knowing what pieces people want in their homes, so it felt quite natural to progress to owning ShabbyStore and taking the title of head of buying and merchandising.

“I believe investment is key to growth, whether that be in products or people.

“I quickly realised I couldn’t do everything myself and since then we have massively invested in growing a strong team at ShabbyStore who are all experts in their field.

“We have a lot of exciting things planned for the next year. Our new ShabbyStore HQ will be located in the idyllic location of Idle West Yorkshire.

“This will have space for a showroom so our customers can come and shop for pieces in person.

“Other big things are also in the works. They are top secret at the moment but I promise they will be worth the wait.”
