Property people: Keyland; Linley & Simpson; LM1; and more

Keyland Developments Ltd, the property trading arm of Kelda Group and sister-company to Yorkshire Water, has appointed Matthew Turnbull as planning and development manager.

He joins from Peacock and Smith where he was an associate.

Keyland’s planning team is overseen by Strategic Land and Planning Manager, Luke Axe, and Turnbull’s appointment follows on from the promotion of Beth McQue to planning and development manager.

The company recently unveiled its blueprint for sustainable development and is the first company in the UK to use a valuation tool to calculate direct, indirect and enabled value delivered from its developments.

Turnbull will be working with the team to overcome the challenges it sees in the current UK housing delivery model by pursuing more prescriptive planning permissions and working with housebuilders to create a more organic mix of houses.

Peter Garrett, managing director at Keyland Developments, said: “Keyland is in an exciting phase of its evolution and we are incredibly proud to be implementing our new six Capitals approach to sustainable development.

“Planning plays a critical role in the work we undertake and Matthew’s expertise and in-depth knowledge of the statutory planning system will be a valuable addition to our dynamic team.”

Turnbull said: “I am delighted to be joining Keyland as it implements its ambitious plans to be the development enabler of choice for both private and public sector landowners across the county.

“I am looking forward to utilising my experience in managing complex planning matters to add value to the business.”

A residential property expert has returned to her South Yorkshire heartland to head up Linley & Simpson’s new Sheffield branch.

The move for Penistone-born Kelly Boot comes after the regional sales and lettings specialist recently acquired two long-established independent city letting agents – Lewis Wadsworth and Sheffield Residential.

Boot, who will be based with her team of seven in the former city centre offices of Lewis Wadsworth in Queen Street, began her career in the property sector as an administrator with a Wath-upon-Dearne lettings agent.

After becoming its manager and leading a small team, she moved to a bigger firm, first as a sales negotiator then progressing to lettings manager.

Her previous role before joining Linley & Simpson was as an executive branch manager with a national estate agent chain in Leeds city centre, where she managed a team of nine and looked after large portfolio landlords and investors.

She said: “Whilst it may only have been two years since I last worked in South Yorkshire, it’s great to be back, and even better to be heading up Linley & Simpson’s Sheffield branch.

“The recent acquisitions saw us establishing a firm foothold within the city, and this brought with it a combined portfolio of 750 plus properties to manage.

“Thanks to significant amounts of inward investment, Sheffield has been transformed. It has great road and rail networks and is surrounded by fantastic countryside, all of which makes it a highly desirable place to live.

“The South Yorkshire property market is incredibly strong at the moment and there is a real boom in lettings, which we are confident will continue for the foreseeable future.”

Nick Simpson, Linley & Simpson co-founder and its CEO, said: “We are delighted to have someone of Kelly’s experience joining us in our new South Yorkshire venture.

“Kelly knows the residential property business inside out and is used to leading and motiving a team.

“Moving into South Yorkshire is the final piece in our ‘Yorkshire jigsaw’, as we now have branches in all four Yorkshire regions.”
