Huddersfield-based Thornton & Ross (T&R), part of the STADA Group, has made three key appointments to its senior team.

Karen Dodd takes the role of head of research and development for T&R, taking on responsibility for both development and regulatory.

She joins from Walgreen Boots Alliance, where she was head of product delivery for the company’s own-label wellness range of more than 300 products.

Prior to that, she spent 18 years with Reckitt Benckiser, whose portfolio includes Gaviscon, Dettol, Scholl and Lemsip. Dodd worked across most of the health and personal care range, including managing global R&D for Nurofen.

Allan Stirling

Her role at T&R will see her be responsible for over-the-counter consumer brands such as Covonia®, Hedrin®, Flexitol®, Cetraben® and Zoflora® household disinfectants.

Allan Stirling has been appointed director of communications with T&R.

Having worked with the business in an advisory capacity for the past 12 months, he joined the team full-time this month, bringing with him a wealth of experience of working with a host of blue-chip companies.

Nick Ettery will be taking on the role of vice-president of sales and marketing for the prescription side of the business.

He has experience in both medical devices and pharmaceuticals across multiple segments, most recently as the commercial director: Northern Europe for Vyaire Medical, with previous senior roles at Sandoz and Alcon.

Roger Scarlett-Smith, executive vice-president of T&R, said the appointments would enable the business to continue on its growth trajectory.

He added: “Karen, Allan and Nick have joined us at a time when we continue to enjoy a surge in sales and they will be real assets in driving the business forward.

“Karen’s extensive experience across such a wide range of brands and therapeutic areas makes her ideally suited to leading R&D as we enter into the next phase of growth.

Pontefract-based Quantum CPM, which provides quantity surveying and project management services to the construction and industrial sectors, has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of a new director.

Lee Williamson takes up the post to expand the company’s specialist support for construction contractors and sub-contractors involved in all kinds of projects, ranging from new build, refurbishment and shop-fitting to mining and those in the rail industry.

As a RICS chartered surveyor, Williamson will provide professional quantity surveying services to clients ranging from estimating through to full commercial management of a contract.

He has a particular expertise in claims advice and works with businesses of all sizes from sole traders to businesses up to a £10m turnover.

He brings over 20 years’ experience to Quantum CPM, during which he has worked with contractors undertaking major projects for clients including Network Rail, Sirius Minerals, the NHS, West Yorkshire Police, the MOD and Land Securities.

Williamson has worked nationally and internationally, including five years in Australia working on railway schemes and in mining, for the country’s largest privately owned contractor BGC Contracting – now NRW.

The Coalfields Regeneration Trust, which supports 5.7 million people in former mining communities throughout the UK, has announced three appointments to support a new partnership with Five Towns Primary Care Network.

Bringing together a group of general practices and local providers, including community, mental health, social care, pharmacy, hospital and voluntary services, the Five Towns Primary Care Network has partnered with the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to improve the health and wellbeing of residents across the five towns area of Wakefield.

Matt Foster, Ella Oldroyd and Philippa Priestley have all been appointed as health and wellbeing activators to the Coalfield Regeneration Trust’s recently established Communities Active team, joining Lindsey Best-Fryer who joined last month.

Supporting the Wakefield communities of Normanton, Knottingley, Airedale and Castleford, the activators will provide Five Towns Primary Care Network GP surgeries patients with dedicated guidance and advice to help improve their mental health and physical wellbeing.

As well as delivering 121 sessions to residents, the activators will also support existing community programmes and introduce new health and wellbeing activities that are available to those that need them most.

The GP surgeries involved with the Five Towns Primary Care Network are Patience Lane Surgery, Kings Medical Practice, Health Care First Partnership and Castleford Medical Practice.

Morses Club, a Birstall-based listed provider of non-standard financial services, says Baroness Simone Finn will be stepping down from her position as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

This is so she can take up a new position within Government as deputy chief of staff to the Prime Minister.

A search process to appoint a successor is underway, and the Board says it will make a further announcement in due course.
