Doncaster recruitment agency, ORB Recruitment, has taken on two new team members.

Joshua Clamp, 28, from Doncaster, has joined the company as a specialist recruitment consultant in the construction department, working on resourcing, building relationships with candidates and clients and bolstering business development for ORB’s work in the construction sector.

In addition, the team has welcomed Angelika Davies, 33, from Worksop. Davies, who holds a Tourism and Hospitality degree and has a background in hospitality and retail as well as recruitment, will work as a consultant in the industrial sector.

Clamp said: “Meeting new people and learning new skills is definitely what I’m enjoying the most at ORB. The friendly atmosphere amongst the different teams and how management are invested in everyone’s personal development really makes the company stand out.

“I enjoy that every day is different. Having to deal with and solve new problems is really important in this industry and I like a challenge.”

Davies, who originally comes from Poland and is multilingual speaking Czech, Slovakian and Lithuanian in addition to English, said: “The team at ORB really look after you and I love recruitment, particularly meeting new clients and candidates, so I’m really excited to be here and get started.”

Clamp and Davies’ arrrival takes the total number of staff at the company to 13. The firm has continued to supply key workers into the healthcare sector throughout the pandemic, as well as working with the manufacturing and production, construction and engineering industries.

The head of Irwin Mitchell Business Legal Services, in Leeds, has joined the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) Yorkshire and Humber Council.

In addition to heading the team in Leeds, Paddy Sturman is a partner in the national Banking and Finance team.

He is joining a body that aims to bring business and Government together, with a view to enhancing the local economy and championing the best the region has to offer.

Sturman will serve on the council for the next 12 months where he will join over 40 executive CBI members in sharing expertise, looking to help shape the CBI’s policies and campaigns on the issues that matter most to regional business.

Emily Moncuit, associate regional director of Yorkshire and the Humber CBI, said: “We are delighted to welcome Paddy to the CBI’s Yorkshire and Humber Council.

“His role at Irwin Mitchell means he understands the challenges local businesses face and his insight will be invaluable as the region looks to bounce back from the challenges of lockdown and deliver post-Brexit prosperity.”

Sturman added: “With the challenge of Brexit and of course the tragic events of the last year, there couldn’t be a more important time to join the CBI council.

“As the recovery gets underway, there is much we need to do, to support business, our institutions and our local communities to get back on their feet.

Paul Bretherton has joined Bradford-headquartered Thorite as capital equipment sales engineer for the North West region.

Bretherton has over 30 years experience across many industries.

He began his career as a fitter in the plastics and rubber industries, working his way up to the position of maintenance engineer within the petro-chemical and mortar manufacturing sectors.

From there he applied his engineering skills to compressor servicing, taking the leap 10 years ago into selling compressed air products and systems, where he has been involved in sales & project management, vacuum system design, nitrogen generation systems, working with the Carbon Trust on many projects.

A family-owned business since its foundation in 1850, Thorite has grown to become the UK’s largest supplier of pneumatic, compressed air and fluid handling products and systems.

Yorkshire-based Independent Tax has further expanded its team by guiding two of its employees through their Chartered Tax Adviser examinations.

The business, which has its headquarters on the Brackenholme Business Park just outside Howden, welcomed Huddersfield University graduate Saad Daji to its growing team.

Daji, who is from in Batley, recently completed a degree in Accountancy and Finance.

Meanwhile two existing members of the team, David Brindley and Paul Ripon, recently passed their Chartered Tax Adviser exams.

Ripon successfully completed the first of four exams that he will need to work through to become fully qualified, and Brindley has completed all four, which means that he is now a fully qualified Chartered Tax Adviser.

Managing partner of Independent Tax, Gary Brothers, said: “Four years ago we set our sights on becoming the largest HMRC-handling and tax dispute specialist in the North.

“Our commitment to recruiting and investing in some of the brightest young stars within the industry has undoubtedly helped us to achieve that.
