Meat supplier works up an appetite for accelerated growth

Sustainable online meat company Farmison & Co has appointed KPMG to explore strategic options after doubling its sales in the past year.

The business has ambitions to further disrupt the meat industry and becoming a £100m turnover brand.

Over the past 12 months it has introduced seven day and next day delivery options and invested £1m of capital expenditure in cold storage capacity.

To build on its active customer base rising five-fold year-on-year, the firm plans to access new investment to support growth, marketing, international expansion and new operational innovation.

Farmison & Co is a specialist in selling quality meat by breed to home cooks online. It currently employs more than 100 staff and is based in Ripon.

The KPMG team will be led by Rob Baxter, head of KPMG’s consumer and retail M&A practice.

He said: “Farmison & Co continues to go from strength to strength, consistently recognising and catering to changing consumer needs.

“Having grown quickly and profitably, with the opportunity to export overseas alongside the right investment partner, the potential for this British business to grow further is limitless.”

John Pallagi, founder & CEO of Farmison & Co, said: “The company has shown great resilience since we started 10 years ago, leading the way in quality and investing in British heritage breeds, as we help the nation eat better meat.

“Now, we want to go further ensuring we can continue our growth, fly the flag for British meat excellence, and in support of the farmers who play such a vital role in our supply chain.”

Andy Bond, former Asda CEO and an initial investor in the company, said: “I’ve watched Farmison & Co’s journey from day one, and from strong roots the team have built a hugely impressive, fast growing successful company.

“Its commitment to upholding high welfare and product values matches the increased customer desire for provenance and quality.

“I look forward to watching the business’ exciting story unfold over the months ahead.”
