Refurbishment programme to begin at city centre offices
Following completion of the £8m transformation of One City Square in Leeds, Catella APAM is embarking on a refurbishment programme for 2 Whitehall Quay – another prime city centre office.
The firm has appointed joint agents Fox Lloyd Jones and CBRE to market three floors of Grade A office accommodation within the building.
The second, fifth and sixth floors, totalling about 36,000 sq ft, will be available from summer 2021 following the exit of NHS Digital. 2 Whitehall Quay is able to offer a combined 24,606 sq ft across the fifth and sixth floors.
Josh Whiteley, senior asset manager at APAM, said: “We are immensely proud of our refurbishment track record, recently demonstrated at One City Square and we are now looking forward to carrying out a similar transformation of 2 Whitehall Quay.
“As part of the works we are exploring a ‘cluster’ approach to combine the amenity provisions with One City Square to offer complimentary benefits, including meeting rooms, co-working space and gym facilities.”
Nick Salkeld of Fox Lloyd Jones, said: “The Leeds office market is experiencing a clear ‘flight to quality’ with a rising volume of Grade A space being let.
“However, there is a severe shortage of prime workspace available across the whole of Leeds city centre, therefore we expect a great deal of interest in 2 Whitehall Quay, which is in a prominent riverside location, benefitting from excellent natural light.
“We are delighted to have been appointed by APAM, as it is further evidence of FLJs ever-growing presence in the city’s office market.”
Alex Hailey of CBRE, said: “We have had the pleasure of working with APAM and their design teams on 1 City Square and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with them on another exciting project, 2 Whitehall Quay.
“Upon completion of the refurbishment, 2 Whitehall Quay will provide some of the best quality office accommodation in the city centre.
“There will be a huge focus on wellbeing, which means Whitehall II will provide the perfect working environment as staff return to the office as lockdown restrictions ease.”
