Trans-Atlantic deal to acquire mobile network technology business

A North Yorkshire-based software firm has been sold to a US telecoms platform provider.

Mobile network technology firm SiRRAN, whose UK operations are based in Easingwold, near York, has been acquired by US telecom software infrastructure and data services business NetNumber Inc.

The transaction also involves the sale of SiRRAN assets in Ireland, along with those of an associated company in Liechtenstein, TD Mobile, and comes 11 years after the business was founded in North Yorkshire and Ireland by cellular networking experts Dean Parsons and Alan Lait.

A team from Bevan Brittan led by Leeds-based corporate partner Christian Hunt advised SiRRAN on the deal, which will see its mobile core network products further strengthen NetNumber’s portfolio offerings and will open new markets for NetNumber.

Corporate senior associate Andrew Spicer and associate Ben Harris also advised on the transaction between SiRRAN and Massachusetts-based NetNumber.

Hunt said: “This is an important deal for SiRRAN which shows the continued attractiveness of UK technology companies for investment or acquisitions.

“It also shows our ability to advise clients on international transactions, wherever they are in the UK.

“SiRRAN has been at the forefront of telecom software development for many years, and it’s acquisition by NetNumber will accelerate delivery of new network services and solutions to customers.”
