£150m joint venture acquires sites for hundreds of new homes

A £150m joint venture involving Lovell Partnerships – the housing arm of Morgan Sindall plc – and Together Housing has purchased three sites for development.

The sites in Holmewood near Chesterfield, Howden in the East Riding area of Yorkshire and Kirk Ella on the outskirts of Hull have been acquired to provide 550 new homes for private purchase and social housing.

The Leeds office of Gateley Legal advised Lovell Partnerships, providing advice on the preparation of the joint venture agreement and planning for each of the developments. It has also been instructed to deal with the forthcoming plot sales.

Tim Kelly, regional commercial director for Lovell Partnerships, said: “This joint venture will seek to address the housing crisis across the North of England with many of the homes benefiting from shared ownership and affordable rent.

“We are pleased to have benefited from Gateley Legal’s advice right from the start of this transaction.”

John Kiff, residential development partner at Gateley Legal, said: “We were happy to assist Lovell Partnerships with their latest venture which we hope will help to develop communities and provide much needed housing for families in the region.”

Kiff was assisted in this transaction by banking partner, Richard Morton, corporate legal director, Rachel Dean and associate, Rebecca Bennett, planning partner, Robert Waite and residential development solicitors, Sarah Burgman and Deirdre Lindsay.
