Yorkshire Water awards half a billion pounds of water service contracts

Yorkshire Water has awarded over £550m worth of contracts to Morrison Utility Services (MUS) and Network Plus following a tender process for its clean water network repair and maintenance services.

The work which was previously delivered by one contractor was divided into five lots under the Yorkshire Water’s new Water Services Partnership, in order to drive innovation, competition, customer service and support it in meeting its efficiency targets.

MUS and Network Plus will deliver emergency and planned reactive work and metering services for Yorkshire Water covering the east and west of the region respectively, with Network Plus also delivering developer services across the whole area.

Starting in July and initially to last for four years with a further four year extension option, the contracts are worth around £553m over the full eight year period.

Director of water at Yorkshire Water, Neil Dewis, said: “The new contracts will create a competitive, dynamic, and resilient service that rewards exceptional performance, nurtures innovation, and supports us in delivering against our AMP7 performance commitments.

“The new Water Services Partnership will allow us to improve on many levels. In the longer term it will help us to drive more innovation in the industry, and in the shorter term it will allow us to continuously improve service for our customers and for Yorkshire as a whole.”
