Restaurant raises the steaks with award winning chef and new all-weather terrace

Spring has officially landed and Oakwood’s premier dining spot Chophaus are bouncing back with plans that are set to rock 2021. As well as unveiling their brand-new heated terrace, the team behind the popular steakhouse and bar are launching their most ambitious menus to date.

The outdoor terraces complete overhaul will comfortably seat 80 guests and has been designed by the award-winning Nanu Soda, who first worked their magic on the stunning Chophaus interiors back in 2019. Flanked by the lush green trees that surround the restaurant, the cosy heated terrace is set to be the place to be in north Leeds this summer.

Chophaus have teamed up with celebrated chef Lee Murdoch to create a collection of menus designed to pique the interest of even the most discerning of foodies. The Scottish born chef has had an illustrious career since it began back in 2003, working around the globe picking up awards in several Michelin restaurants and 5-star hotels.

A stunning array of dishes

In Yorkshire, he’s widely known for his stellar work at D&D’s Crafthouse and Angelicas, as well as his own popular Fior Alba delivery service. For Chophaus, he’s created a stunning array of dishes that will both please and surprise regulars. The Terrace Menu is nothing short of show stopping and takes inspiration from around Asia, Europe and beyond.

Dishes such as Truffle Puffs with black garlic sauce and smoked sea salt and Fior Fries with aged Parmigiana make up the lighter bar plates section, whilst the larger plates are split across four sections.

Highlights from Raw & Sushi include the refreshing Salmon Tartar Tacos with grapefruit and a lime crème Fraiche, California Crab Rolls, Spicy Tuna Gunmaki and Kumamoto Oysters with yuzu and galea apple. Those looking for a lighter bite won’t be let down with the Salads & Seafood selection, which includes Sauteed King Prawn with chipotle and mango olive oil, and Miso Wild Bass with sake, mirin, and ginger.

The Signature & Charcoal section offers up a mouth-watering range of plates, including Highland Wagyu Ribeye, Grilled Native Lobster with yuzu, shallot and seaweed, and Korean Chicken Sliders with pickled kohlrabi, Fior sauce and a sesame milk bun.
Adventurous dessert lovers will gravitate towards the Sweet & Savoury offerings, which includes Moji by Murdoch with honeycomb, raspberry, and milk chocolate, Coconut Edible with mango sorbet and tropical salsa, and a Foie Gras Crumpet with manuka honey and pink pepper.

All new dishes have been created to complement the restaurant’s signature selection of prime, locally sourced meats, which includes a bestselling range of Wagyu beef.

Alfresco experience

The hot-of-the-press 2021 cocktail menu will be on hand to complement the new plates and includes the fruity Chophaus Punch. Blessed with Wray & Nephew rum, plantation pineapple, apricot, lime and creole bitters, it’s essentially summer in a glass.

2021 is shaping up to be the big year Chophaus never quite got in 2020 when the country plunged into lockdown just four months after they launched. They have still managed to build up a loyal cult following, helped by a strong launch and a hugely successful takeaway Sunday roast service amongst other ventures.
