First-time buyer snaps up nursing home

A nursing home in West Yorkshire has been sold for an undisclosed price.

Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has confirmed the sale of Laurel Mount Nursing Home in Keighley.

The home is registered for up to 34 residents and had been in the same ownership for nearly 20 years.

It has been purchased by first-time buyer, Reemy MediCare Ltd. Speaking on behalf of the company, managing director Dr Baby Cherian said: “We are excited to have purchased Laurel Mount Nursing Home, and are looking forward to working with the staff and getting to know the residents and their families.”

Jonathan Wickens, director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, added: “We are pleased to have worked on the sale of Laurel Mount and wish Reemy Medicare every success in the future.

“With the vaccination roll out well under way and care homes considered a priority, we have now seen all homes offered the first vaccine with many already having received the booster dose.

“Visits are now available to resident’s families and there are signs that we are on the road to recovery.

“As there have been a number of lockdowns and access to homes has been difficult, the flow of homes coming to market is slower than in previous years which in turn means there is pent up demand particularly from existing operators looking to expand their portfolios.”
