Listed logistics operator scores contract win with JD Sports

Clipper Logistics says it has signed a letter of intent with JD Sports Fashion PLC to provide e-fulfilment services from its distribution centre in Sherburn, near Leeds.

It is expected Clipper will provide these services to supplement JD Sports’ existing e-commerce operation. Clipper will also provide logistics support to move product to the site from JD Sports’ other warehouse location.

The contract term is expected to be an initial minimum term of two years, and Clipper has reserved a minimum of 400,000 sq ft of warehousing space at the site in order to provide the services.

It is likely that the contract will go live in the early part of the summer.

Steve Parkin, executive chairman of Clipper, said: “JD Sports are a truly first class, leading retailer, and we are extremely proud to be supporting their online operations. Clipper is very much the go-to provider of end-to-end services in the online retailing space.”

Peter Cowgill, executive chairman of JD Sports, added: “Clipper has an outstanding reputation for delivering rapid and effective logistics solutions for retailers, and has extensive experience in the e-commerce arena.

“We look forward to working with Clipper as we continue to evolve our service proposition.”
