Sheffield-based construction business Henry Boot has announced changes to its senior management team at two of the Group’s companies.

Simon Carr of Henry Boot Construction (HBC) and Giles Boot of Banner Plant (BP) will be retiring from their roles as managing director on 30 June 2021.

Carr delivered over a billion pounds of construction activity and increased statutory profit tenfold, with Boot repositioning BP’s client base and order book from an internal hire supplier to a business generating 94% of its turnover from the open market.

Henry Boot adds that Tony Shaw – current director of Henry Boot Construction will be promoted to the position of managing director and Jonathan Fisher will join the Group as the new managing director of Banner Plant.

Both will become members of the Group’s Executive Committee.

Shaw joined HBC as an apprentice in 1985, before working his way up to his current position as director.

As part of the succession planning, he has had increasing day to day responsibility for the senior leadership team at HBC and has led the recent refresh of HBC’s strategy.

Fisher joins the Group as the new MD of BP from Elliot, part of the Modulaire Group Company.

He has extensive industry experience from his previous position as the UK sales director and will be tasked to continue leading on progressing the digitalisation of BP sales systems and growing its strong position within plant hire.

Tim Roberts, CEO of Henry Boot PLC, said: “In my relatively short time at Henry Boot, it has been a real pleasure working with Simon and Giles.

“Their contribution, over a long period of time, has been very significant. Aptly, we have a good mix of home grown, and fresh talent for these two important positions.

“I look forward to working with Tony and Jonathan as they take up their new roles.”

Carr said: “It has been an honour to lead Henry Boot Construction as managing director, a culmination of a career spanning 33 years with the company, where I have overseen both considerable growth and industry leading profit margins.

“I also wish to place on record my thanks to all at Henry Boot for their immense talent, hard work, support and friendship, and am confident that, under the stewardship of Tony Shaw, the business will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Boot added: “I’m proud of the evolution and growth I’ve overseen at Banner Plant, as we’ve transitioned from an internal supply company to a commercially successful plant hire business.

“As I leave the company in great shape to face future challenges, my thanks and respect go to all the loyal members of my team who have contributed so much over the years.”

Leeds-headquartered EMIS Group, which provides connected healthcare software and systems, says its trading for the year to date is in line with Board expectations.

In a trading update, the Group adds it continues to have leading positions in specialist markets, benefits from high levels of recurring revenue and remains in a strong financial position.

The Group expects to grow in 2021 and to build market momentum with its new product developments, which will lead to opportunities for higher levels of growth in 2022 and beyond.

As the COVID-19 situation improves in the United Kingdom, EMIS Group is supporting its customers, notably through its Outcomes4Health software which is underpinning the delivery of vaccinations outside hospital settings.

Andy Thorburn, chief executive officer, said: “Healthcare continues to be at the centre of the global agenda, with COVID-19 being a catalyst for change leading to a more rapid adoption of digital healthcare across all settings.

“As the UK starts to look beyond the pandemic, the Board remains confident of delivering growth through its innovative technology platforms, providing the NHS, the private sector and patients with better connected and more efficient healthcare solutions.”
