Property investor says development will be icon on the city skyline
Property investment firm Aspen Woolf has opened reservations for Sky Gardens, its new luxury apartment skyscraper in Leeds that it says is set an “icon on the city skyline” with new images of 32-story luxury building.
Set to dominate the skyline in Leeds’s South Bank and reaching 101 metres into the sky, the skyscraper is being designed by award-winning architects to provide “a level of luxury living that has no equal in Leeds”.
Once complete Sky Gardens will become one of the tallest buildings in Yorkshire and the residential tower will offer the first all-year round rooftop sky garden in the city, offering 360° views of the local landscape.
Plans for the development were revealed in 2019 and now the developers, Citylife, say that many of the uniquely styled apartments are being designed in response to the new post-pandemic world.
The development is being built on the original Midland Mills location, which is perhaps one of the most important industrial heritage sites in Leeds city centre. It has a huge amount of history as it was the previous site of a 200-year-old flax mill, a Grade II listed building that was key to Leeds’s manufacturing heritage.
Sky Gardens will see the full refurbishment of the Midland Mills and the creation of an iconic residential tower, dubbed as a “wonderful development, pairing the new with the old”.
The tower will hold 306 luxurious 1-, 2- & 3-bed apartments, and will offer residents their own workspaces, lounge, private gym, concierge, and car parking club when it opens in 2024. The site also offer one of the only opportunities to secure luxury property in Leeds South Bank, one of the largest regeneration project in Europe, which will create 35,000 new jobs and 8,000 new homes once completed.
Speaking about the investment opportunity Russell Midgley, director at Aspen Woolf said: “Sky Gardens offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for property investors. With house prices predicted to rise 28% by 2024, Leeds is tipped to be one of the top cities for house price growth in the UK. The potential in Leeds is massive with exceptional investment taking place in the city.
“Leeds is at one of the most exciting points in its history. It already holds the 2nd largest workforce in the UK, the 2nd largest centre for financial services, and over 40,000 graduates are produced here every year. Sky Gardens represents Leeds’s future. It will become Leeds new iconic landmark and one of the first opportunities in the exciting South Bank project.”
