Demand fuels expansion into the region

Sky Recruitment Solutions has opened a new office in Huddersfield to deal with the huge increase in demand for workers.

With reports currently claiming businesses are looking to grow their workforce to help meet post-lockdown demand, the Derby headquartered firm has set up a town centre base next to The Media Centre to cope with the Yorkshire-wide employment boom, which in part its claimed is in part being fuelled by reduced levels of EU recruitment.

Sky Recruitment Solutions’ business manager for Yorkshire, Shane Callaghan, said the workforce shortage called for more of a personal approach which Sky was responding to.

Explaining the evolution fo the firm’s offer he said: “We responded to the Covid pandemic by setting up an online portal for would-be employees. We don’t just leave them to it, we take them through the steps to complete the paperwork and then invite them in for inductions.

“[Now] we can now support clients from our office at the heart of Huddersfield town centre. We have developed bespoke inductions for small groups and have found job-hunters like this personal touch. Our clients appreciate it that way too.”

The firm also expects to be growing its operation in the town with Callaghan noting: “We have three consultants and a part-time administrator, all guided by our new manager Natalia Wojciechowska. As we continue to grow, we will be looking for more high calibre staff to join our team.”

The business which specialises in providing personnel for industrial roles highlighted that fork lift truck drivers were in high demand, adding that the with recruitment from the EU reduced there’s a high demand across the manufacturing, warehousing, industrial and logistics sectors.
