Acting on behalf of STR Capital, CBRE’s Leeds Investment Properties team has acquired a 19,304 sq ft new build builders’ merchants and trade counter investment for £3,270,000.

The unit in Barnsley was developed by Allenby Commercial and is leased on a 25-year term to MKM Building Supplies (Group) Limited, one of the UK’s largest independent builders’ merchants with over 70 branches nationwide.

MKM was founded in Hull 25 years ago and employs over 1,650 people.

Located to the north east of Barnsley town centre on Twibell Street just off the main A61, the unit comprises a total floor area of 19,304 sq ft and benefits from 27 dedicated car parking spaces. Nearby operators include Screwfix, Wolseley, Magnet and Wickes.

Henry King, Investment Properties at CBRE Leeds, said: “This asset comprises a modern new-build trade unit in a strong regional market, providing a secure long-term income stream which was a great fit for our clients investments objectives.

“We believe this will be a great addition to our clients portfolio and we are very pleased we were able to secure the asset in such a competitive market.”
