Software company plans to accelerate growth and create 100 jobs in city

xDesign, a product and software engineering company with over 100 employees, has today announced its new office opening in Leeds with plans to help accelerate growth and create jobs in the region over the next three years.

With its expansion into the area, xDesign – an Edinburgh-based provider of expert engineering and cross-functional Agile product teams for software development and delivery – intends to help support and accelerate its growth by creating 100 jobs in the region.

The expansion is part of the company’s three-year growth plan to become the leading technology partner for the UK’s most exciting and well-known brands.

It explains it has chosen the North of England as the first base outside its main headquarters partly due to the striking similarities between the tech business environments here and in Scotland.

Managing director, Euan Andrews, added: “Opening a new office in Leeds is core to our overall growth strategy that sees xDesign opening offices and creating jobs throughout the UK, and it’s most critical for us to plan this expansion thoughtfully with a focus on how we can best support local businesses and talent.

“It’s important to us that we find people to work with and collaborate with who have regional and local insight and expertise, because we know how crucial that knowledge is to building a solid community, which is our number one priority as we work to make meaningful contributions to the area.”

The business already has strong connections within the region, and has appointed Matt Ward as its head of Northern England to lead the expansion into the area.

Ward, a long-time Yorkshire businessman and resident, and the former head of Deloitte’s Market Gravity in the North of England, said: “I’m thrilled to be leading this expansion. As an area resident and professional, I know how vibrant the tech community is here, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with the area’s incredible talent, first-hand.

“Continuing to build xDesign’s community in the North is something we’re all very much looking forward to.”

To facilitate its growth, the business has selected Bruntwood Scitech’s Platform in Leeds as its launchpad in the North.

Councillor Jonathan Pryor, Leeds City Council’s executive member for economy, culture and education, said: “We are pleased to welcome xDesign into our thriving tech and digital community and are proud the company has chosen Leeds as its first base outside of Scotland.

“The product and software engineering company is already looking to recruit to its new office and we are very pleased to see over 100 exciting job opportunities open up for local people to work with some of the UK’s most exciting and well-known brands in this space.”

Junior and senior-level roles at xDesign for engineers, designers, and internal talent acquisition specialists are open to applicants in the North of England. Remote and hybrid flexible work options are available.
