Smart partnership for utilities infrastructure services business

Sheffield-based multi-utility infrastructure and services provider, Fulcrum, has embarked on a Smart Meter exchange programme for growing domestic energy supplier goto.energy.

As part of its three-year partnership with goto.energy, Fulcrum will exchange traditional dual fuel meter points for goto.energy’s growing customer base and has now launched a programme to exchange meters at 400 goto.energy customer homes each month.

goto.energy is a UK energy supplier that launched in 2019. It is revolutionising the market by purchasing energy in advance, which means guaranteed fixed prices with competitive rates for its customers.

All goto.energy’s electricity is from renewable sources and gas is responsibly sourced to minimise environmental impact.

This agreement is one in a series of Smart Meter agreements secured by Fulcrum since it entered the market two years ago, where it has established a niche for supporting emerging and growing energy providers.

It now has a portfolio of 500,000 managed meter points for a number of new market entrants, growing and established energy providers.

In addition to meter exchanges, Fulcrum also provides ongoing Meter Operator (MOP) and Meter Asset Manager (MAM) services, including portfolio management and maintenance, site surveying and consultation, along with new meter connection programming.

Terry Dugdale, CEO of Fulcrum, said: “We are really pleased to be working with goto.energy and its customers to make the move to Smart Meters, which is an important part of achieving a low carbon future for the UK.

“Our experienced team are now mobilised and beginning the programme of exchanging meter points in 400 goto.energy customer homes each month, enabling them to better monitor and manage their energy usage.

“We have made positive progress in the Smart Meter market by providing a flexible and agile service that enables us to build a meter exchange programme that suits the individual requirements of energy suppliers.

“This is well received by suppliers like goto.energy, which appreciate our tailored and collaborative approach that provides the level of support they need.”

Alex Garcia, Chief Operating Officer at goto.energy, said: “As a responsible supplier, we want to help our customers manage their energy usage and cut overall carbon emissions. Providing Smart Meters is an important part of making this happen.

“As a fast-growing energy supplier, it is important for us to work closely with a Smart Meter specialist that is flexible, responsive and can provide a bespoke service that meets the needs of our business and our customers.

“Fulcrum’s team is proving to be highly collaborative and supportive and we are confident this will be a very successful partnership.”
