Leading property companies team up to buy brownfield site

North Star has partnered with Leeds-based family property Countrylarge and Asset Capital to buy a brownfield site in York, with options now being explored for its redevelopment.

Located on Layerthorpe, on the edge of the city centre, the half-acre site was formerly home to Avis car rental, until the business moved out earlier this year.

A spokesperson for North Star said: “The Layerthorpe area of York is undergoing major regeneration and this site will be another piece of that jigsaw to improve this area of the City.

“Our design team is now looking at various options for a high-quality development to complement other major projects in the area and breathe new life into this key brownfield site.”

York-based North Star has various major regeneration projects in its pipeline in York and Sheffield including the former Heworth Green Gasworks development, a hotel development on Micklegate in York, an office scheme on The Crescent and it has recently announced its purchase of a key gateway site in Sheffield City Centre.
