Distribution facility acquired by mobility equipment supplier

A supplier of mobility aids and furniture, CareCo UK Ltd, has opened a northern distribution facility in Leeds to facilitate its continued expansion.

The premises, which were previously occupied by exhibition stand manufacturer Nova Displays, comprise a modern detached industrial/warehouse facility of 40,000 sq ft and are on Peckfield Industrial Estate in Micklefield, just outside Garforth.

CareCo was represented by property consultancy Gent Visick (GV) and the premises were marketed by Knight Frank, on behalf of a private owner.

CareCo has grown rapidly since it began trading in 2009 from a 6,000 sq ft barn.

The company now operates from a modern headquarters and distribution facility of 50,000 sq ft in Brentwood, Essex and has 24 showrooms in almost every major city across the UK, from Edinburgh to Exeter.

It employs at least 220 people across the country and has serviced over 600,000 customers since its inception.

Angus MacLean, property director for CareCo, said: “Our new northern distribution facility is strategically positioned in a central location in the UK and just off junction 47 of the M1 motorway.

“The new distribution hub will enable the growth of the company to continue, as we look to continue opening more showrooms across the UK.”

Paul Mack, director of GV, said: “We are delighted to have secured this rare freehold opportunity on behalf of CareCo to facilitate its continued growth.

“With the availability of warehouse premises hitting critically low levels across the Yorkshire region and throughout the UK, freehold opportunities such as these are becoming harder and harder to find.”

Tom Goode, associate at Knight Frank, added: “We are thrilled to have acted on the disposal, on behalf of a private client, to CareCo.

“In a market constrained by a supply and demand imbalance, we understandably, had strong interest and are pleased to have concluded this transaction swiftly.”

Goode of Knight Frank and Dawn Carlisle of Knights plc acted for the vendor, whilst Shahnaz Ahmed of Sanders Solicitors acted for the purchaser.
