Simon Wormald and Philippa Sanderson

KPMG UK has appointed Philippa Sanderson and Simon Wormald as partners in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Sanderson an experienced tax adviser becomes a tax partner. Having lived and worked in Yorkshire and the Humber for more than 20 years, she opened KPMG’s Sheffield office in 2015 and for the last 18 months has been leading KPMG’s Private Enterprise Tax team in Scotland. As part of her promotion, Sanderson will now also drive KPMG’s Private Enterprise Tax business in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Wormald becomes a partner in transaction services, within the firm’s deal advisory practice. He is focused on the healthcare and life sciences sectors and works on a range of buy-side, sell-side and refinancing engagements for corporates and private equity clients.

Both Sanderson and Wormald will work closely with Leeds Office Senior Partner Euan West to drive growth for the firm in Yorkshire and the Humber.

Leeds law firm Clarion has continued to grow its team with the appointment of another four associates.

Anna-Elise Harvey joins the employment team as a specialist in employment and business immigration, with four years’ experience of advising on day-to-day HR issues, corporate mergers and acquisitions, and contentious matters in the Employment Tribunal. Specialising in business immigration and with particular expertise in conducting right to work checks, Harvey also advises on all aspects of sponsoring migrant workers.

Zaigham Jaffri has become the latest member to join the real estate team. With experience of property finance transactions, representing banks and other institutional lenders, he is able to advise lenders about security relating to purchases, refinances and development, secured over a wide range of commercial and residential property.

Jack Farrer further strengthens the commercial team. Specialising in data protection and privacy law, he has experience of advising both private and public sector clients. His expertise includes the auditing of business functions to ensure compliance with data protection and privacy law; and the preparation and negotiation of data processing and data sharing agreements, privacy and cookies policies and other internal data protection policies. In addition to Farrer’s general commercial experience, he will support Clarion’s corporate team by assisting in due diligence exercises on both the buy and sell sides of corporate transactions.

The final new addition is Andrew Crisp who joins the costs and litigation funding team having spent over ten years as a costs lawyer. He advises on a wide range of costs matters including those that have proceeded all the way to the Supreme Court. Having worked both in-house and for specialist costs firms, Crisp really understands what is required by law firms and what can be achieved on their behalf. He prides himself on his technical ability and regularly advises legal teams on process improvements and on costs issues.

Fast growing Leeds-based security provider, Professional Security, has appointed Andy Jeavons to the new role of chief finance officer.

Jeavons joins from international business process outsourcing and professional services company, Capita, where he was FD of the defence, fire and security business unit. Prior to that he also worked for Deloitte specialising in mergers & acquisitions and was FD at East Midlands Airport.

Commenting on his appointment he said: “I am delighted to be joining Professional Security at this juncture in its growth journey. The directors have a clear and ambitious strategy for the business, and I look forward to helping them create a solid financial structure on which they can build and continue to grow at pace.”

The CFO role is the latest in a string of senior appointments for Professional Security, which is on track to record its most successful and transformational year in its 17 year history. Other key appointments this year include COO Jason Thorndycraft, sales & marketing director Alex Minett, process and transformation director Demelza Staples, head of operations midlands & north west Carl Uttley, head of operations south Darryn Valerio and head of operations north Ben Levick.
