Landmark eight-storey office building on track for New Year completion

Endeavour, the fourth and final phase of the Sheffield Digital Campus development, has reached a key milestone in its construction.

Work on the eight-storey, 63,000 sq ft grade A office building started in June 2021 and is due to complete by January 2023.

This will bring to a close 15 years of development at the Digital Campus, which has seen a once derelict site transformed into a cluster for the creative, digital and professional services industries.

Councillor Julie Grocutt, deputy leader of Sheffield City Council and co-chair of the Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee, joined representatives from developer, Scarborough Group International (SGI) alongside the wider project team to celebrate a topping out event at the site.

Designed by architects Carey Jones Chapman Tolcher and delivered by principal contractor, GMI Construction Group Plc, Endeavour will provide office space capable of sub-division to accommodate a range of businesses.

The building features a welcome lounge, as well as a private roof terrace with views across Sheffield’s skyline.

It also incorporates a number of enhanced wellbeing and sustainability measures such as increased cycling provisions, spa quality changing facilities and a greater provision of EV car parking bays.

Adam Varley, development director at SGI, said: “I’m immensely proud to see our fourth and final building at Sheffield Digital Campus coming to fruition, particularly as we took the decision to forge ahead with our plans to speculatively develop Endeavour amidst the backdrop of a pandemic.

“Getting the project to where it is today has not been without its challenges. However our partnership approach to development has ensured we have been able to continue to deliver this exemplary office building.

“We’re well on track to delivering Sheffield city centre’s first post-pandemic office building early in the New Year.”

Cllr Grocutt added: “I’d like to extend my congratulations to everyone involved in the project in reaching this important milestone.

“Transforming the vision for the whole site into what we see before us today over the past 15 years not only shows long-term commitment to the regeneration of our wonderful city but also great collaboration between the key stakeholders.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing the building envelop evolve throughout its final stages of construction over the coming months.”

The building has been funded via a joint venture agreement between SGI and Metro Holdings of Singapore, supported by a £4m mezzanine loan from the SCR Jessica Fund alongside a £10m Senior Loan from The South Yorkshire Pension Fund, both of which are managed by CBRE Capital Advisors.
