Leeds-based law firm, Walker Morris, has achieved revenue growth of 10% following the launch of its Ambition 2024 strategy in 2021, achieving over £60m turnover for its last financial year.

Its latest figures follow four years of growth, with revenue increasing by almost 50% since 1 May 2017.

Managing partner, Malcolm Simpson, developed the firm’s new growth strategy in partnership with the Board, which sees Walker Morris aiming to reach £70m revenue targets in 2024 by growing its capability, expanding its offering to clients and investing in its people.

Walker Morris works with national and international clients, with a fifth of its clients headquartered overseas.

It has made a record number of lateral hires in the past year, including key hires in growth areas, such as Real Estate, Infrastructure & Energy and Finance, as well as making 21 promotions across 10 of its expert teams.

Walker Morris  launched a sabbatical scheme as part of a package aimed at giving its lawyers more sustainable, long-term careers.

Open to any solicitor from associate to director level, employees who have served more than two years at the firm will be entitled to up to four weeks paid leave in addition to their annual holiday, occurring every two or three years.

Simpson said: “Whilst revenue is important, we are enormously focused on making sure that Walker Morris is an exciting, dynamic environment, where our colleagues can develop and grow their careers.

“With this, we also want to grow our capabilities, expand our offering to clients and invest in technology to support how we work.

“Our success is real testament to the hard work of everyone within the firm. Over the last few years we have grown as a business and have become more forward-thinking, with real ambition for the future.

“I think it is true of any industry that the more ownership and autonomy given to employees, the greater their level of engagement and productivity – law is no different.

“We have looked at ways to provide this to our people and we have seen real, tangible success for our firm as a direct result of this.”
