Land promoter launches new office for the North and Midlands

London-based strategic land promoter, Ptarmigan Land, has expanded its business by launching a new northern office following a series of successes in the south.

Founded in 2003, Ptarmigan Land has built up a portfolio of over 25,000 residential plots, predominantly in the south-east.

The new northern office, which will cover Yorkshire, the North East, North West and North Midlands, will be based in York and led by Steve McBurney, who has over 22 years’ experience in land acquisition, planning promotion and land sales throughout the north including 14 years at CEG in Leeds.

Hugo Kirby, co-founder and chairman of the Ptarmigan Group, said: “Steve’s extensive experience, proven track record and reputation as a tenacious and diligent land promoter who unlocks challenging sites while providing a friendly, honest and professional service to landowners and their agents is a perfect fit at the perfect time for our growing business.”

McBurney, managing director of Ptarmigan Land North, said: “Although there could be challenging planning and market conditions ahead in the short-term, the north remains a diverse area of great potential and opportunity.

“We look forward to working closely with existing contacts and forming new partnerships as we grow our portfolio.”

Ptarmigan Land North’s new office will be at Marlborough House, Westminster Place, York Business Park.

McBurney added: “York is an ideal base from which to serve our northern landowner clients with good road links and quick train connections to Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and London.

“Westminster Place provides modern and flexible space in which to grow our northern business and team over the next few years.”
