Leisure facility could be built on former oil storage depot site

Plans have been outlined to turn a brownfield site at Fleet Lane, Oulton, into a leisure facility including lodges, a wedding and conference facility and a café.
The proposals, put forward by Ashcourt Group, are for land once occupied by a Bayford oil depot which was developed in the 1960s.
The site is between the River Aire and Aire and Calder Navigation, to the east of Woodlesford, near Leeds.
Ashcourt Group has now launched a public consultation, ahead of submitting a planning application.
Its plans consist of 40 eco-lodges and a wedding venue built with locally sourced materials and designed to complement the landscape.
The wedding venue/conference facility would cater for up to 120 guests.
More improvements will be made to road surfaces on Fleet Lane, better passing places, enhanced disabled access, as well as additional visitor parking spaces on-site and enhanced security.
A spokesman for Ashcourt Group said: “We are excited to launch this second piece of public consultation to gain views from the community and ensure the submitted plans best respond to local need.”
“The brownfield site is in the greenbelt but, we feel these plans will massively enhance the environment and create a place that the community can enjoy.”
A planning application will be submitted to Leeds City Council over the coming weeks. People can view more details about the proposals at www.fleetlane-consultation.co.uk
