Investment opens door to growth for manufacturing firm
A manufacturing firm has reported turnover of around £33m after a major investment programme.
Leeds-based Express Bi-Folding Doors is owned and run by the Bromberg family and in the last financial year has benefited from its investment in product lines, people and production.
A record pre-tax profit of around £1.8m sees the company up around 6.5% after major investment in a new showroom in Weybridge, research and development of new products and engineering, and a new cutting-edge CRM system.
The company, overseen by Steve Bromberg and his father Steve, also gave recent pay rises to staff including drivers and production workers to take their pay well above inflation – with more than 250 people now on the books across the company’s four UK sites in Leeds, Weybridge, Glasgow and Romford.
The brand has rapidly grown too with the last 12 months seeing celebrities lend their backing to Express Bi-Folding Doors – including Star Wars and Harry Potter star, Warwick Davis, architect and TV presenter, George Clarke, and famous interior designer, Linda Barker.
Steve Bromberg, managing director of Express Bi-Folding Doors, said: “We learnt a lot from Covid and how to deal with the unexpected and come out stronger. The economic climate we’re living through has been a massive challenge for everyone, but we’re navigating it well because we knew what might be on the horizon.
“We’re all very proud that we’re doing this nationally from our base in Leeds and have built on the foundation of our family’s business values.
“That’s why last year we put a package of investment and expansion in place with a real solid rationale to it and it’s starting to reap its rewards. It’s early days, but we’re where we want to be and it doesn’t stop here.
“The team are constantly innovating when it comes to our products and we’re absolutely intent on making sure we maintain our reputation as manufacturers of the highest quality products in our field in the UK.”
The company – which has its headquarters, flagship showroom and manufacturing base near Elland Road in Leeds – is still looking to hire and train new staff nationally to join them as the business continues to grow across the UK.
