Quality assurance tester bought by Australian firm

Rotherham digital quality control tester Shift Left Group has been bought by Australian quality assurance firm Planit for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition of Shift Left sees Planit contend for the second spot amongst specialist quality engineering service providers worldwide and grows the group’s rapidly expanding UK-based headcount beyond 300. With the backing of its parent company, Tokyo Stock Exchange-listed economic research firm, system integrator and consultancy, NRI, Planit has its sights firmly set on achieving the top spot in its industry before the completion of its Vision 2030 strategy.

Mike Weale, CEO of Planit, said the acquisition of Shift Left is a progressive and forward-thinking development that will enable opportunity and success for technology partners and industry professionals.

“We are thrilled to welcome Shift Left to the Planit group and take our enhanced combined serviced offering, to the United Kingdom and European technology landscape.” Mr. Weale said. “Further to this, we can offer our employees increased opportunities across the combined entity, which will also benefit our customers.”

“Through this acquisition, we can leverage Shift Left’s suite of services and strong customer base to expand our offerings throughout the UK and into Europe, which is key to executing our Vision 2030 strategy.”

“Planit and Shift Left share a commitment to quality. This is reflected in our core strengths and corporate values. Together, we will work towards a sustainable and secure future through the seamless connection between people and technology.”

Under the acquisition Shift Left will continue to operate under its brand, with co-founders David Rigler and Alan Upton leading Shift Left operations.

Managing director David Rigler said the partnership with Planit will enable Shift Left to continue its focus on providing a quality service to its customers by leveraging the scale and capability that Planit has within its existing operations.

“We were listening to the needs of our customers, and we could clearly see the opportunity to expand our global reach and extend our service offerings. We also knew that achieving this on our own would be possible, but would take significant time and investment. We needed to find a partner with a substantial global footprint and Planit was the logical choice. Not only did we have a historical relationship, we also knew that they had the capability and capacity to move our business forward,” Mr Rigler said.

“Alan and I look forward to seeing our organisational synergies come to bear, as together we reinforce our core offerings and deliver our clients enhanced strategic thought leadership within the quality engineering space.”
