Speciality coffee shop brews up second city venue

Sheffield Plate, a food destination based at Orchard Square in the city centre, has welcomed speciality coffee shop, Whaletown to its line-up of independent street-food vendors and bars.

Whaletown was established in 2018 by Jordan O’Shea and this is its second venue in Sheffield.

O’Shea said: “This is a very exciting time for Whaletown, building on our success to date with the opening of our second venue in Orchard Square.

“We are pleased to be joining Sheffield Plate and their team of popular food and drink destinations, giving us the opportunity to offer city centre customers a real taste of our quality and friendliness.”

Spanning two floors in Orchard Square, Sheffield Plate offers a range of food from around the world to include Thai and Peruvian, as well as from across the UK. A new bar is also now open, serving cocktails, sodas, spirits and bottled beers.

Shay Murray, Orchard Square manager, said: “The Sheffield Plate food hall is proud to showcase a diverse range of food, drink and entertainment to suit all tastes.

“We are happy to be welcoming Whaletown to our line up, allowing us to further build our offer for visitors, and in doing so bringing together an exciting, unique and inclusive offer for communities, right in the heart of the city centre.”
