Anderson said: “I’m really looking forward to working with a wide range of charities and not for profit organisations across the North and nationally.

“I am also keen to support my colleagues to be the best that they can be, working with organisations that give people a sense of purpose, and acting as a role model promoting women in leadership.”

Law firm Ware & Kay Solicitors has appointed Jack Hedley as its new risk and compliance officer.

He specialises in ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations, professional and practice standards, maintaining practice manuals and policies and keeping abreast of changes in the regulatory field.

He will also ensure relevant legal, financial and data protection legislation and frameworks are adhered to.

Hedley, who will be based in York, will act as the ‘eyes and ears’ of industry body the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), ensuring structures and procedures are in place as the company continues to grow.

Originally from Newcastle, he arrives at Ware & Kay with over eight years’ experience in the legal industry.

Having completed a law degree at Leeds University in 2013 before spending time in the industry he started his career in Compliance in 2018 at a firm of solicitors based in Leeds.

Hedley said: “I am incredibly passionate about offering the right level of support and training in the workplace, which is vital.

“As well as ensuring the firm is compliant with all industry standards at all times, my focus will also be sharing my experience – the good and the bad – to help develop quality solicitors and paralegals for the future and building on what is already an extremely talented and cohesive team.”

David Hyams, managing director at Ware & Kay, added: “It is with great pleasure that we welcome Jack to the team.

“Jack’s role is essential that, as we grow, we maintain our exceptionally high standards right across the firm.”
