City briefs: Burberry and Pressure Technologies

Fashion brand Burberry has appointed Giorgio Belloli and Delphine Sonder to the newly-created roles of chief digital, customer and innovation officer and chief merchandising officer respectively, with immediate effect.

Belloli will be responsible for leading the global e-commerce, digital product, and analytics teams, as well as a newly-formed innovation function.

Sonder will lead merchandising and global planning across ready-to-wear and accessories, as well as product strategy.

Both will report to chief executive officer Jonathan Akeroyd and join the Executive Committee.

Belloli joins after more than nine years at Farfetch, where he most recently served as chief commercial and sustainability officer.

He has previously held senior roles at Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, and Prada.

Sonder joins after nearly five years at Saint Laurent, where she was general merchandising director. She has also worked in senior roles at Louis Vuitton and Chloe.

Akeroyd said: “These appointments reinforce our ambitions for this next phase, building on our strong legacy of innovation and strengthening the alignment between our commercial offering and our new creative vision.

“I look forward to working closely with both Giorgio and Delphine to progress our strategic priorities and realise Burberry’s potential as the modern British luxury brand.”

Specialist engineering group, Pressure Technologies plc, has appointed Steve Hammell as chief financial officer of the company.

He will join the business and Board in the second quarter of this calendar year.

He is currently CFO of Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd, a world leader in the manufacture of ultra-heavy forgings and castings which serves a wide range of industry sectors, including UK and international defence markets.

A chartered accountant with 29 years’ experience, Hammell has held several financial leadership roles, including CFO of AIM-quoted cyber security specialist, ECSC Group plc, and group finance director of international technology consultancy, eBECS Ltd.

Hammell spent his early career with PwC, Yorkshire Bank and Grant Thornton, where he worked on a wide range of M&A transactions.

A member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, he holds a first class honours degree in Economics & Management from the University of Leeds.

Further to the Sheffield-based company’s announcement on 15 November 2022, James Locking will be stepping down as CFO at the end of February 2023.
