Up to 20 jobs created as coffee and sandwich shop chain opens latest branch

Food and organic coffee chain, Pret A Manger, has opened at the Merrion Centre in Leeds as part of UK expansion plans.

The new shop in the Merrion Centre will create 18 to 20 more jobs. The 4,510 sq ft Pret, spread over the ground and first floor at 42-44 Woodhouse Lane, is in a prominent corner position.

Current occupiers in this part of Leeds include some of the city’s most popular independent and international eateries, big brand restaurants and cafes, hotels and prime entertainment venues including the 13,500 capacity first direct arena.

Charles Newman, associate director at Town Centre Securities (TCS), owner of the Merrion Centre, said: “We are happy to welcome Pret to our eclectic offering at the Merrion Centre.

“This latest opening will enhance our fantastic current range of food and beverage operators and we are confident it will prove a welcome addition for the surrounding office workers and students alike.”

Mizan Syed, CEO of Exultant Group, said: “We are pleased to be Pret’s newest franchise partner, bringing the beloved freshly made food and organic coffee chain to those across Yorkshire and to be celebrating our first shop opening at the wonderful Merrion Centre outlet.”

Guy Meakin, interim UK managing director at Pret, added: “We’re excited to be bringing another Pret to Leeds with this latest opening with our franchise partner, Exultant Group.

“Our ambition is to bring our freshly made food and organic coffee to more people across the UK, including here in Yorkshire. We look forward to welcoming customers to the new Merrion Centre shop.”
