Building Society adds netball to Leeds Rhinos sponsorship deal

Leeds Building Society has extended its sponsorship of Leeds Rhinos to encompass its netball team as well as men’s rugby side.

The mutual’s logo will appear on the kit of the Netball Super League side for the next two years, starting from 11 February when the new season gets underway.

The Society has been the main sponsor of the Rhinos’ men’s rugby team for 17 years, helping to build its brand recognition around the UK during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

The 10-team Netball Super League is entering its 17th season, with all games televised live on subscription TV services as well as being streamed online.

Rob Howse, Leeds Building Society’s chief operations officer, said: “As the longest-serving supporter of Rhinos’ men’s rugby team, it’s fantastic to be able to extend our association with a club that sits at the heart of our community.

“Netball has grown massively over recent years. There are an estimated 680,000 people playing regularly and it is at the forefront of professionalising more women’s sport.

“Rhinos Netball is a young club, only in its third year in the Super League, but it already does a lot to support participation across Yorkshire and inspire the next generation at school, club and community level. We’re keen to support its push for even more success over the coming years.”

Rob Oates, Leeds Rhinos commercial director, said: “Leeds Building Society has been a valued partner of our men’s team for the last 17 years and we are pleased its support has now expanded to our netball team.

“Leeds Building Society is very much part of the Rhinos family and we are grateful for its backing for Liana Leota’s team as they head into their third Netball Super League season.”
