Builders’ merchant acquires plot to grow its network across northern England

Property developer HBD has sold a 2.5-acre plot at Wyvern Park, Skipton, to JT Atkinson in a deal that will create a range of new jobs.

The family owned builders’ merchant will expand its network with a new 12,500 sq ft warehouse unit. Its Skipton branch will be its 35th across the North of England.

Wyvern Park is a 58-acre project being brought forward by HBD’s Leeds office.

A number of local infrastructure improvements have already been made, including a new road and a play area.

Richard Hinds, senior development manager at HBD, said: “Wyvern Park is an important employment scheme for Skipton, providing space for SMEs to grow and expand while creating hundreds of new jobs for the local area.

“It’s great to have JT Atkinson on board and we look forward to working with Craven District Council to bring forward the remaining space.”

A total of 7.17 acres will be developed at Wyvern Park, with units ranging from 1,180 sq ft to 50,000 sq ft. Further plans will be revealed in the coming months.

Work on JT Atkinson’s new building is expected to start on site in later this year.

JT Atkinson is an independent builders’ merchant with more than 160 years’ experience in the supply of building materials.

Its new Skipton base will be a regional hub, providing a link between its existing branches in Settle and Ilkley.
