Ware & Kay Solicitors, which has offices in York, Wetherby and Malton, has appointed an experienced senior family lawyer who will provide leadership and support to its Family Team.
Stephen Carr specialises in all aspects of family law and relationship breakdowns and is able to deal with complex cases involving children.
He will be responsible for advising on all aspects of divorce, separation, arrangements and financial provision relating to children, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements together with cohabitation agreements.
Originally from Wakefield, he arrives at Ware & Kay with considerable experience, having specialised in family law for over 32 years.
He studied at the Park Lane College in Leeds in 1990 and started his career in Doncaster. He will be based in York but will see clients in the Wetherby and Malton offices.
Carr is a member of the Board of Yorkshire Premier League North, formerly the York & District Senior Cricket League, and since 2002, the league disciplinary chairman, as well as being a member of the league Umpires Panel and secretary of Carlton Village Cricket Club.

Colenso Property, a York-based commercial property and asset management specialist, has welcomed Lucy Glasby as a shareholder and partner in the business following a period of significant growth for the company.
She first joined Colenso in 2018, and is now the business’s head of facilities management, overseeing its health and safety compliance, and the management of a range of hard and soft services, including mechanical and electrical maintenance, fire safety systems, cleaning, and security, throughout its extensive portfolio.
Colenso, which manages commercial properties across the UK for private clients, is expecting a 30% growth in net profit this year, following the business having expanded its service offering, recruited additional staff, invested in cloud-based software and streamlined its processes.
Glasby said: “Having been part of the Colenso team for a number of years, the decision to invest within the business was an easy one, particularly given the exciting period of growth we are experiencing and expecting.
“I’m particularly excited to be working to expand our sustainability offering, working with our clients to improve their green credentials and significantly reduce energy bills in the long-term.”

Independent law firm, Brabners, has expanded its Regulatory and Professional Conduct team in Leeds following the appointment of new partner, Claire Burrows and legal director, Deepika Raino.
Burrows joins Brabners’ 80 plus strong partnership as a specialist regulatory lawyer based at the firm’s new 1 City Square offices.
She brings 14-years’ experience in law and regulatory compliance, having previously worked for Walker Morris and DLA Piper.
She advises both UK-based and international clients on complex regulatory investigations, with experience helping to defend regulatory enforcement action for clients in a range of sectors including manufacturing, construction and healthcare.
Her focus areas include health and safety, medical device regulation, product safety, environmental, food safety, coronial law and anti-bribery legislation.
Raino has over 22 years’ experience in professional regulation having worked previously for Adkirk Law and Slater and Gordon Lawyers.
She acts for a range of professional clients including health care professionals, medical experts, sports players, solicitors, barristers and university students.
She has advised individuals and businesses in the public and private sector including NHS trusts, NHS England, Primary Care Practices and National Governing Bodies.
The appointments follow a number of senior hires at Brabners over recent months as it further develops a full-service team in Leeds having launched in the city last year.

Emma Sadler
International law firm, Addleshaw Goddard, has made three new partner promotions in its Leeds office at Sovereign Square.
Emma Sadler (Restructuring), James Mort (Commercial) and Dan Glowacz (Real Estate) will join the partnership from 1 May, part of a 20-strong promotion round which will bring the firm’s total global partner headcount to 369.

She is closely aligned with the financial services sector and advises on loan portfolio sales/acquisitions.
Since joining the firm in 2008 she has gone on to play a central role in mentoring, supervising and supporting aspiring lawyers within Addleshaw Goddard.
Mort qualified into the firm’s commercial team in 2013 and specialises in advising customer side on technology and outsourcing projects for FTSE100, FTSE250 and equivalent clients.
He has particular experience advising on major transformation programmes, having advised on some of the firm’s most significant Technology & Operations transformation mandates.

He also has a strong capability in advising clients on all aspect of general commercial work from supply chain contracting to exploitation of intellectual property rights.
Glowacz has vast experience in all aspects of institutional real estate work ranging from routine sales and purchases to complex conditional portfolios sales/purchases/re-gears, funding arrangements and multi-jurisdictional matters.
