Street food brand founded in Yorkshire expands to Midlands

Indian street food and craft beer specialist Bundobust, which is headquartered in Leeds, has opened the doors of its fifth restaurant – a new 120-cover outlet in Birmingham.

The restaurant is the latest to be opened by Bradford entrepreneurs, chef Mayur Patel and craft beer bar owner Marko Husak, who founded the business back in 2014.

Serving contemporary vegetarian and vegan Gujarati street food, Bundobust Birmingham complements the group’s existing restaurants in Leeds, Liverpool and Manchester Piccadilly, plus the Bundobust Brewery in Oxford Street, Manchester.

The company now employs over 120 people across its five locations.

Housed in a Grade II listed building, Bundobust Birmingham is split across two floors, and has communal bar seating as well as semi-private spaces.

A new 15-year lease of the Birmingham premises in Bennetts Hill was completed by Clarion’s property practice with a team led by partner Simon Mydlowski and including Lucy Entwistle.

Amy Buttrick of Clarion’s corporate team advised on an asset purchase of certain assets at the property from the outgoing tenant which completed in conjunction with the new lease.

And business immigration expert, Anna-Elise Harvey from Clarion’s employment team, supported Bundobust in obtaining a sponsor licence to enable the continued employment of three Indian chefs as well as allowing it to apply for a further two chefs from India to take up roles in the UK with Bundobust.

Mydlowski added: “The opening of the Birmingham restaurant marks another important step in Bundobust’s growth journey.
