Technology group Connexin has bought a training company to boost the digital skills academy it launched two years ago.

The deal will see Encompass Training merge with Connexin Academy, with 30 staff joining the team to accelerate employment opportunities for over 600 learners each year.

Encompass was founded in 2009 and has provided a range of courses including leadership, management, accountancy, business and procurement. It is now a Centre of Excellence with The Leadership Pipeline Institute.

Adam Rhodes, director of commercial operations at Encompass said: “At Encompass, we are immensely proud of our achievements so far, in training thousands of learners and working with some of the biggest companies in the region. Encompass and Connexin share their roots in the city of Hull and our equally strong commitment in upskilling the country’s workforce.

“Digital skills are absolutely vital in today’s economy and keep our businesses thriving. Uniting with the Connexin Academy is the next big step of many more to come.”

Connexin Academy was launched in 2021, with the aim to boost digital skills and enhance employability for the community. The Academy offers digital and IT skills programmes, alongside bootcamps in advanced fibre engineering.

Heidi Greaves, managing director of Connexin Academy, added: “Through this acquisition, we’re able to expand our offering with a range of extra courses, bootcamps and apprenticeships. We are thrilled to further cement our position as a leading digital skills and training provider.”
