Consent sought for dozens of affordable homes

Plans for 65 affordable homes three miles from Hull city centre have been developed by Esh Construction and Together Housing Group, with an application now submitted to Hull City Council.

Part of an £11m development, the proposed plans include two, three and four-bedroom homes for affordable rent.

The scheme is on land opposite the Freedom Centre, between Ryehill Grove and Wyton Grove, which is allocated for residential development in the Holderness Road Corridor Area Action Plan.

Esh Construction business development manager, Zoe Cowell, said: “We pride ourselves on maintaining successful working relationships with our clients and we are pleased to be working with Together Housing on a second land led development.

“An extensive amount of work has gone into developing this scheme to date and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved in getting to this point.”

Designed by Acanthus WSM Architects, the site will include 31 two-bedroom, 28 three-bedroom and six four-bedroom homes.

Registered housing provider, Together Housing Group, will take ownership of the properties upon completion.

Together Housing Group programme manager, Chris Watson, said: “This is an exciting opportunity to offer new and current customers, housing right at the heart of Hull.

“Our vision is to create a vibrant community of affordable homes that will meet the local needs including the young and growing families.

“Over 20% of the properties will be built with enhanced accessible features including ramp access and ground floor shower rooms.”

Cowell added: “Esh Construction has about £80m worth of land led developments on site or due to commence, and this represents a strong part of our affordable housing division’s future workload.

“It is widely documented that there is huge demand for new affordable homes across the Yorkshire and Humber region and through our land led solution, we can support registered providers to achieve their targets.”

Efficiency North was the land promoter for the site and Ward Hadaway provided Esh with legal support in the land transaction.

Esh Construction will work with Acanthus WSM Architects, Eastwood and Partners and CPC Project Services LLP throughout the development, once planning consent has been secured.
