Site acquired to house dementia care training academy

Specialist dementia care provider, Vida Healthcare, has acquired a new property in Starbeck, Harrogate.

The 2,500 sq ft building offers the business a base for Vida Academy, which is where its staff will be trained. The building will open its doors in September 2023.

Blacks Solicitors, which is marking a decade of supporting Vida Healthcare, represented the business with its latest acquisition.

Over the past 10 years, the law firm has represented the business in over 50 matters, including site acquisitions, contracts, novations and funding with a combined value of £28m.

Nick Dyson, head of commercial property at Blacks Solicitors, said: “We are extremely proud to be in a position to support family-owned businesses, particularly those based in Yorkshire.

“We are always on the lookout for new businesses who are focused on building trusted relationships that last for years.

“It also means a lot to know that we’re playing a part in supporting Vida’s ongoing mission to provide outstanding care to people living with dementia.”

The firm also represented Vida Healthcare during the acquisition and construction of its most recent care home.

Completed in 2020, Vida Court is a £15m, 68,000 sq ft specialist dementia care facility which provides personal and nursing care to up to 100 people across eight houses.

Vida Healthcare currently employs 550 staff and looks after more than 230 residents at three care homes.

Managing director James Rycroft said: “Over the past years we’ve built an incredibly strong relationship with Blacks Solicitors which has given us the confidence to progress with transactions at this level.

“We are always on the lookout for new ways to innovate the care available to people living with dementia and we look forward to partnering with Blacks on future strategic developments.”
