Upgraded gyms unveiled following ‘significant investment’

New gyms have been unveiled at three Active Leeds leisure centres, as part of the council’s to get more people moving.
Investment has been made into equipment and wider gym refurbishments at Wetherby, Morley and Armley leisure centres, with the new look gyms now open ahead of autumn.
The refurbished gyms feature new cardio and resistance equipment, including dedicated free weights areas, functional fitness areas and the latest technology.
Councillor Salma Arif, executive member for adult social care, public health and active lifestyles, said: “I’m pleased Active Leeds has been able to open three new gyms. This significant investment demonstrates Leeds City Council’s commitment to helping the people of Leeds live healthy and active lives.
“Active lifestyles are so important in increasing health outcomes across Leeds, and it is crucial that as a council we ensure there are a wide range of affordable options for residents to keep fit and stay active.”
As well as improving the gyms, refurbishment works have included upgrading the pool at Wetherby to include energy efficient lighting and decorations throughout. There is also a new virtual spin studio and bio circuit equipment at Morley leisure centre.
Further upgrades have been delivered at Holt Park and Rothwell leisure centres, with functional fitness spaces being added at both centres.
