Rising demand prompts wholesaler’s relocation to larger premises

Apelson Appliances UK Ltd, an international wholesaler of white goods, kitchen appliances and fittings, has taken a 10-year lease from commercial property specialist, Onward Holdings Ltd.

Apelson is moving to a refurbished warehouse at Good Hope Close, located within half a mile of Junction 31 of the M62 on the Normanton Industrial Estate in Wakefield. 

It is relocating to the 63,980 sq ft multi-purpose warehouse to facilitate expansion of its operations and to meet increased demand.

The business will mainly use the warehouse for the distribution of white goods including kitchen hoods, hobs and other spare parts. Additionally, Apelson’s office function will be incorporated into the unit. 

Onward acquired the former Tri-Wire manufacturing site in 2022 then extensively renovated the property to create a modern warehouse with associated two-storey offices. 

Apelson Appliances UK’s head of finance, Mark Johnson, said: “We were aware of Onward Holdings’ positive reputation from other premises they manage in the area.

“The team were very communicative and worked together with us on this journey to provide us with the ideal property to align with our future operations. We are very happy with the final deal.”

Onward Holdings’ director, Neil Storey, added: “We’re happy to welcome Apelson Appliances to Good Hope Close.

“The 10-year lease secures both companies’ outputs against the background of continuing economic uncertainty.

Iain McPhail of Knight Frank, who worked alongside Andrew Miller Chartered Surveyors of Sheffield to secure the letting, added: “Onward Holdings have made another significant investment in the West Yorkshire industrial property market by creating a premium, occupier-facing and dedicated distribution unit.”
