Planning consent to add more homes to major brownfield development
Forge New Homes has won planning permission for its fourth development in Sheffield City Region and completed its purchase of the site from Harworth Group plc.
The developer’s latest venture is at Harworth Group’s Olive Lane mixed-use development at Waverley, which aims to transform the area into a sustainable community.
Olive Lane will include new homes, a retail scheme and medical centre.
As part of the development, Forge plans to build 32 two and three-bedroom terraced homes at Olive Lane, a 1.5-acre site just off the A630 Sheffield Parkway. The homes will be available for market sale.
South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) has awarded Forge New Homes grant funding from the SYMCA Brownfield Housing Fund to support the delivery of the fully electric new homes.
Work is set to start in spring 2024, with the first homes available to reserve in late 2024.
Andy Beattie, director for Forge New Homes, said: “Olive Lane is a fantastic scheme by Harworth, one that will continue to transform the area and create a strong community at Waverley.
“We’re happy to have been granted planning approval to build 32 family homes by Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council.
“The development will have a focus on open space and outdoor community areas, providing a vibrant neighbourhood for buyers.
“With customers at our heart, we’ll continue to build liveable spaces for thriving households and growing communities.”
Peter Massie, development manager, Yorkshire and Central at Harworth, added: “Forge has a track-record of delivering high-quality homes designed for modern families, and we are very pleased to be welcoming them to our Waverley development.
“These proposed homes will further add to the vibrancy of the Waverley community, with residents benefiting from extensive green space, a well-designed public realm and a range of planned and existing amenities.”
