Job losses confirmed at holiday homes manufacturer

Hull-based holiday homes manufacturer, Willerby, has confirmed 131 jobs losses following a consultation with its workers.

It had issued a redundancies warning in December last year due to a slump in sales. The firm said it had “no choice but to adapt to very challenging market conditions.”

Two production lines at the business’s factory on Hedon Road had operating hours cut back to two days a week and short time working arrangements were brought in.

In April last year the company had reported a record set of turnover and profits for 2022 – the best results in its 77-year history.

Willerby is the UK’s largest manufacturer of static caravans and lodges. It produces more than 7,000 holiday homes every year from its 80-acre site.

Its full accounts made up to 1 October 2022 report the business employed an average of 1,046 staff in 2022, which was up from 972 the previous year.
