Furniture business settles into newly designed headquarters

Contract furniture brand, NaughtOne, has moved into its new headquarters in Harrogate following 18 months of renovation.

Previously based in Knaresborough, it now occupies a first floor space at Harrogate’s Central House.

NaughtOne specialises in the design and manufacture of ancillary furniture for modern spaces, which have grown in popularity in offices in recent years with the move towards hybrid working and collaborative, breakout areas alongside traditional desk set-ups.

Managing director, Nadean McNaught, said: “Workplaces have changed so much over the last decade and today people want so much more than a functional desk and chair.

“We’ve been well-placed to help clients create spaces which meet these evolving needs.

“In 2022 we started thinking about how to expand and improve our own working environment to better support our growing team.

“The brief was ambitious: we wanted a warm, welcoming space that felt more like a home than an office – somewhere the team would want to come to connect and hang out. And it had to be sustainably built and accessible for everyone.

“Central House in Harrogate ticked all the boxes. As soon as I saw the space, with its huge windows, high ceilings and treetop-lined views, I knew it would be our new home.”

Over the last 18 months, she has worked with the firm’s creative director, Stephen Floyd, and design manager for branded environments, Sam Davis, to bring the new space to life from scratch.

Davis said: “We knew team members were coming into the office for different reasons: some to collaborate and catch up, others to get their head down and focus.

“The space was designed to support both, filling the gap of what they felt they were missing at home.”

The design includes a kitchen area, glass-fronted meeting rooms in the centre of the space, a quiet space with sound-proof phone rooms for virtual calls and staff who prefer quiet working and a workstation with 30 hot desks.

NaughtOne explains the space will double up as a northern showroom for customers to visit.

Central House will also be home to its new Research & Development hub. Construction is about to begin on a separate area on the floor below which will be a dedicated area for the company’s Design & Engineering team to create and collaborate on future products.
