Metal fabrication and contract manufacturing company, MTL Advanced, has powered up its capabilities on the back of a £1m investment.

The Rotherham-based business, which is also looking to take on dozens more workers, has acquired an LVD Taurus 12kw XXL format fibre laser.

Karl Stewart, general manager, said: “This is a symbol of our unwavering commitment to remaining at the forefront of metal fabrication.”

“This isn’t just about acquiring the biggest and most advanced piece of equipment; it’s about unlocking new possibilities and adding value to our customers’ supply chains.

“We’re now equipped to tackle projects of unprecedented scale and complexity, all while maintaining the levels of precision and unparalleled quality which we are known for.”

Neil Osborne, managing director, added: This impressive large format LVD Taurus 12kw XXL fiber laser with bevel head is the first of its kind in the UK and will only strengthen what MTL can offer.

“The team at LVD UK worked very closely MTL and spent a lot of time understanding the requirements from the team to make sure the correct machine was chosen.

“LVD UK are proud to be able to offer the solution that MTL had been looking for and welcome the growing partnership between our companies with more machines to follow.

During 2023 MTL says it secured a series of multi-million pound, multi-year contracts resulting in a strong order book spanning more than 10 years.

To keep pace with demand, the firm is embarking on a recruitment drive and aims to welcome 90 new team members throughout 2024.

It is looking to take on laser operators, welder/fabricators, project engineers, and CNC Machinists, as well as administrative and support staff.
