Chef pledges ‘fantastic dining experience’ after taking over high street restaurant

The former CORA restaurant in Boston Spa, West Yorkshire, has been sold to local chef Nikki Pybus.

The deal, arranged by specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, will see the site re-open as a new restaurant called Amor. It is on the village’s High Street and has capacity for up to 20 diners.

CORA was founded by Elizabeth Cottam, the patron chef behind HOME and The Owl in Leeds.

She said: “We are pleased to announce the sale of CORA in Boston Spa. We had a fantastic time there, but the time had come for us to focus on our core restaurants in Leeds and we wish Nikki all the best moving forward.”

Pybus said: “2024 is a special year which will see the opening of our new restaurant, ‘Amor’.

“My vision is to bring not just Boston Spa, but the North East, a fantastic dining experience with top notch food and wines, all in a fun environment. Our ultimate goal is every guest leaving satisfied with a memory not to forget.

“Providing everything goes to plan I would like to open in late spring/early summer, initially offering a casual yet top class lunch from Wednesday to Sunday. In the coming months we will look to extend our servings to an evening service.”

Alex Rex, senior business agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, added: “Boston Spa is one of the most desirable villages in Yorkshire and this wonderful restaurant was one of the most popular listings I had in 2023.

“Locals themselves, Nikki and his team will make a great success of the restaurant and follow in the footsteps of Liz and Richard, who did a great job there, and will carry on doing a fantastic job in their other restaurants.”
