Near record number of applicants for 2024 Northern FD Awards

The nominations for the 2024 Northern FD Awards are now closed after the judges received an almost record number of applicants.
Over 50 of the region’s most senior finance leaders are now being scheduled for the judging process.
Interviews for the applicants will be taking place throughout July by Partners and Directors at Awards sponsors Page Group, BHP, Barclays and Hill Dickinson followed by a judging day with independent external judges later in the summer.
Shortlists will be announced in September prior to the Awards Dinner in Leeds on 10 October, where the winners will be revealed.
Partner at Page Executive and this years Chair of the judging panel, John Halton, said: “It is great to see such a high number, and diverse group of applicants this year, many from people who have not been involved previously, which is a great reflection on the hard work of the sponsors as well as the applicants themselves to result in us having such a level of interest in the awards.
“I am looking forward to hearing the stories of what the FD’s and their businesses have been doing in the last 12 months.”
Glenn Hayes, Partner at Hill Dickinson LLP, said: “The standard of entry looks really high this year with lots of businesses, despite a difficult economy, seemingly with good stories to tell. It’s going to be a tough job judging the various categories and picking the winners.”
Chris Neale, Partner at BHP, said: It’s great to see so many finance leaders in the region getting involved this year – and from such a variety of businesses and sectors. I’m looking forward to learning more about them from the interviews.”
John Laud, Head of Corporate Banking across West and North Yorkshire at Barclays, added: “It’s great to be able to support the Northern FD Awards for another year and it’s even better to see the diverse group of FD applicants that are in businesses with impressive track records.
“We’re looking forward to hearing from them to help us with the very difficult task of selecting the best of the best from a really strong field of candidates.”
