More than 40 jobs to be created with outdoor activities store opening
The biggest ever outdoor activities store in Europe will be opening in York on 23 August 2024.
The 125,000 sq ft GO York store will launch at Vangarde Shopping Park and will officially be opened by brand ambassador and TV star Helen Skelton.
It will stock over 380 brands covering walking, camping & caravanning, watersports, running, fishing, horse riding and climbing.
And it will host at least 30 branded concession areas, with names including Yeti, Garmin, Adidas Terrex, Stanley, World of Weber, Whitestores Outdoor living, a Leisure Lakes cycling concept store and The UK’s first Jessops discovery store.
Also on the site will be Alpine Café, where customers can enjoy fresh meals made with locally sourced produce.
Deb O’Donnell, centre manager at Vangarde Shopping Centre, said: “The new GO Outdoors store is a welcome addition to the centre.
“Not only does it provide a dedicated space for our outdoor-loving customers, but also provides a community hub where customers can relax, meet and enjoy their shopping time.
“We are excited to open the doors to Europe’s biggest outdoor retail store and welcome our new customers to the GO Outdoors York store.”
Lee Bagnall, CEO of GO Outdoors, added: “I am extremely excited and proud to open the biggest outdoor store in Europe.
“I am thrilled to be able to bring the very best brands, products and services to our customers in York, in our new game changing flagship store.”
