Yorkshire company bags deal with Swedish packaging systems manufacturer
Leeds-based flexible packaging manufacturer Roberts Mart, has struck a deal with Swedish firm, Pronova Packaging Systems.
Roberts Mart, an independent flexible packaging manufacturer, says it has reached a long-term agreement with Pronova AB, which is located in Halmstad on the west coast of Sweden.
Pronova develops, manufactures and sells the Joker®system, a complete process that comprises both bagging machines and bags.
Under the new agreement, Roberts Mart has installed new bag making equipment capable of producing these bags in house and will be the sole producer and distributor of these chain style bags under its brand name. It will also be the only producer of the patented Joker® LineTM bags in the UK and Ireland.
Kath Elders has joined Roberts Mart as manager of this new department, having worked with and sold the Joker® bags for over 20 years.
Further planned developments include investment in new machinery to support ambitious growth plans for this new arm of the business.
Roberts Mart marketing director, Ben Roberts, said: “This is an exciting development for our family business. The new partnership offers us a stronger presence in the market enabling us to further facilitate the needs of our customers but also to reach new ones.”
Founded in 1852 Roberts Mart is a sixth-generation family run business and today employs 245 staff, supplying packaging solutions for brands across the UK and Europe, predominantly in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors.
With a turnover expected to reach £50m by the end of the year, the firm has recently invested over £11m in new machinery and an extensive facility expansion to allow it to operate more efficiently, future-proof the business and better support a growing customer base.
