People: Bevan Brittan; SPG Resourcing; Reward Funding; and more

Commercial law firm Bevan Brittan has appointed banking and finance partner Kerry Gibbons to its national healthcare finance team.

Kerry, who joins the Leeds office from Knights, has experience across a broad range of finance transactions, including real estate finance on both the development and investment side, corporate finance, acquisition finance and structured finance.

Kerry’s arrival is the latest boost for Bevan Brittan’s health and care practice as well as its Leeds office. The business previously made 10 partner hires in total in 2024, with the four Yorkshire-based appointments all specialising in health work.

SPG Resourcing has strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Sham Chohan to lead the growth of its European cyber security recruitment division.

With an extensive background in technology recruitment, Sham brings a wealth of expertise, particularly in the technology and security sectors. His appointment signals Leeds-based SPG Resourcing’s commitment to addressing the increasing demand for cybersecurity professionals across Europe.

Sharon Ellis, Adrian Stalley and Nick-Smith Reward Funding as appointed Adrian Stalley as its first head of partnerships.

In the newly created role, Adrian will drive forward the Leeds-based alternative lender’s sales and marketing strategy at a national level, by working closely with the regional directors and business development teams across its six UK offices.

Adrian’s career spans over 30 years working in senior director and management roles in sectors ranging from telecoms and utilities to insurance and property. In the last six years he has focused on growing strategic partnerships and driving national business development opportunities in the commercial finance space.

Adrian: “With Reward having recently unveiled its new brand identity and strategic direction, it feels like the perfect time to be part of its continued growth success across the UK.  I’m looking forward to collaborating with the teams across our six offices, exploring new business development opportunities and channels, and as an ambassador of the business to further help expand our national network of introducers.”

Engineering and environmental consultancy Waterman has strengthened its national team with the addition of James Barker as head of sustainability – north.

Carbon expert James Barker, who will be based in the Leeds office, has more than 10 years’ experience in the built environment industry.  He has a wealth of expertise in whole life carbon assessments, building certifications, energy modelling, and overheating solutions. Specialising in helping clients and developments achieve their sustainability goals, his wide-ranging portfolio includes significant projects across the residential, commercial offices, industrial and hotel sectors.

Waterman’s director for sustainability, Dr Ankit Singh, said: “I’m thrilled to welcome James as Head of Sustainability for the north.
